I founded Handsome Dolly Moving Company in 2017 after a decade’s experience of trucking in the NYC moving, film production, antique and auction industries. We are a different kind of moving company: We’re professional, affable, ethical and we get the job done, honestly and effectively. We’re not the biggest, but that’s our charm. Pound-for-pound, we really are the best moving company in the five boroughs. We pride ourselves on our communication skills and making you feel as comfortable as possible throughout the relocation process. By the end of the move, you will have been glad to have us as guests in your home. As the Owner, I’m involved in every move. Moreover, the majority of the time, I’ll be spearheading your move, which means I will actually be in the truck, actually moving your furniture. It’s this level of hands-on experience and customer service that sets Handsome Dolly apart from our competition. When you call our offices, you can rest assured that the person you speak to has actually moved furniture for a living. I’ve driven the truck, I’ve packed the box, I’ve wrapped furniture, I’ve hoisted sleeper couches. I’ve done every aspect of this job. That’s what you get when you hire us. Last, but certainly not least: the photos you see on this web site, these are actually guys that work for this company. Unlike most moving companies, we don’t have stock photos of “relaxed families being boxed up” or “happy moving crews somewhere in Suburbia.” These are actually the guys that work for me, and I’m proud to have them. That’s why we pay our associates a living wage, almost 55% higher than the national average. We are family. That’s where our priorities lie. Our people are our livelihood, so we hire good people. Local and Intrastate Relocations
Handsome Dolly provides guaranteed, flat-rate pricing for all relocations, which is based on the exact amount of inventory you need moved and the locations to and from which you’re moving. Other factors at both your pick-up and delivery locations that affect your binding rate include: long dolly and carry distances; elevator use; number of flights of stairs; parking availability and street width (can we double park?); speciality items like upright pianos and pool tables.
Your flat-rate includes: a team of professional movers; all truck and travel time; blankets and plastic wrap for protecting furniture; commercial bin for framed art; disassembly / reassembly of any furniture (if necessary); Certificate(s) of Insurance (if required); any parking meters, tickets or tolls incurred during the course of the move; and, finally, packing and unpacking services (if requested).
We have no hidden fees or charges associated with the move. The price we quote you prior to your move is the price you pay the day of your move, because our estimate is binding. And, unlike a lot of other moving companies, our foremen aren’t incentivized to up-sell you on services that you didn’t request the day of your move.
However, if you do unexpectedly need to add additional inventory to your shipment or request additional services the day of your move, we will gladly negotiate a new binding flat rate.
Long-Distance and Interstate Relocations
In addition to servicing the TriState area, we go as far North as Vermont, down South to Florida, and across to Texas and California depending on our availability. We don’t work with Van Lines for cross-country moves, so, if you hire us, know that we’re gonna be the ones to load your belongings onto the truck locally and also unload them when we get to your new home fifteen hundred miles away. This makes us a little more expensive than our competition, but some people prefer the piece of mind that this exclusivity of service provides.

Fine Art & Antique Handling

Interior Design Staging
We’ve done apartment staging for some of New York City’s finest interior designers in some of the most luxurious buildings in Manhattan and have done installations and single-piece deliveries across the country in St. Louis, Chicago, Washington, D.C., the Connecticut countryside and The Hamptons to name a few. Simply put, designers love us because we possess a certain finesse — obliging someone’s artistic vision is a goal of which we are distinctly aware. So, moving that rug over a three inches to right after you just asked us to move it seven inches to the left won’t be a problem.
Piano Moving
We move to the beat of your tune. That’s right: we said it. We move pianos. From baby grands to uprights, we’ve moved entire recording studios so we know all 88 keys to treating your baby right whilst relocating her.
